Created by Alex de la Iglesia, 30 Coins is a mystery horror television series available for streaming on HBO Europe. De la Iglesia is also the director and it is co-written by Jorge Guerricaechevarria.

The first season of the show premiered on November 29, 2020, and it has received positive reviews from critics. It currently holds an approval rating of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. A second season was announced a long time ago and is scheduled to premiere soon.

30 Coins Plot and Cast

As the new season picks up, several citizens of Pedraza have gone mad and admitted to a psychiatric hospital. Elena is bedridden in Madrid and Mayor Paco is doing his best to care for the veterinarian-turned-demon-hunter. Online reports say that Season 2 would bring a new enemy which instills fear into the Devil himself.

The basic premise of the series follows Father Vergara, an exorcist, and ex-convict of the Spanish town of Pedraza. He is trying to move on from a troubled past.

However, a paranormal phenomenon starts taking place in the town and he would need the help of Paco, the mayor, and Elena, the town’s veterinarian to find out a mystery related to a coin he owns, which could be one of the thirty pieces of silver paid to Judas Iscariot for betraying Jesus and handing him over to the Romans.

The trio would find themselves caught in the middle of a conspiracy that involves the Holy See and threatens the world as they know it.

Talking about the cast, we might get to see the major characters from Season 1 reprising their roles. This includes Eduard Fernandez, Megan Montaner, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Macarena Gomez, Pepon Nieto and others.

30 Coins Season 2 Release Date

The first season of 30 Coins premiered in November 2020. It has been a long time and considering everything, we can expect the second season to premiere by the end of 2022. However, any official confirmation is not made yet.

The new season is expected to have eight episodes like the first season. The series is produced by HBO Nordic AB and Pokeepsie Films.
