60 Minutes Season 55: Release Date, Host and more!

Created by Don Hewitt and Bill Leonard in 1968, 60 Minutes is a television news magazine which is broadcast on CBS. It has received several accolades including being ranked on the sixth position of TV Guide’s list of the 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time.

Despite being embroiled in several controversies, the show has received a positive response from critics and audiences. Even though the 55th season has not been canceled or renewed, it will possibly return considering the response.

60 Minutes Format and Host

The format of 60 Minutes has been the same since 1968. It usually consists of three long-form news stories without superimposed graphics and there is a commercial break between two stories.

Every story is introduced from a set with a backdrop resembling pages from a magazine story on the same topic. The program investigates on its own and follows the investigations conducted by national newspapers and other sources.

Compared to its competitor 20/20, along with traditional local and national news programs, the show’s journalists never share the screen with other 60 Minutes journalists on camera at any time. This even creates a strong psychological sense of intimacy between the journalist and the viewer.

Now coming to the show’s host, there have been several changes and many popular faces like Mike Wallace, Dan Rather, Diane Sawyer, Bob Simon, Steve Kroft, Lara Logan and many others have appeared as host. Currently there is nothing confirmed about the host of Season 55.

60 Minutes Season 55 Release Date

The 54th season of 60 Minutes premiered back on September 12, 2021. CBS has not yet ordered another season but we can expect it to come back since it has been receiving positive reviews.

Bill Owens has been the executive producer of the show since 2019 and further details about the cast and crew of the show are yet to be revealed.
