Patrick Vollrath’s already knows how to make a chilling drama, he was nominated in the “Best Live Action Short Film” category at the Oscars. His new film “7500”, featuring Joseph-Gordon-Levitt in the lead has already premiered at Locarno Film Festival. “7500” is a story about a co-pilot of a plane that is hijacked by terrorists. 7500, the name, refers to the code which is used to communicate about a hijacking with the air traffic controllers. Recently, Amazon released the trailer of the film and the dramatic representation of chilling imagery urges us to believe that the film’s going to be unsettling for some audiences and terrorizing for the rest.
“It looks like a routine day at work for Tobias, a soft-spoken young American co-pilot on a flight from Berlin to Paris as he runs through the preflight checklist with Michael, the pilot, and chats with Gökce, his flight-attendant girlfriend. But shortly after takeoff, terrorists armed with makeshift knives suddenly storm the cockpit, seriously wounding Michael and slashing Tobias’ arm. Temporarily managing to fend off the attackers, a terrified Tobias contacts ground control to plan an emergency landing. But when the hijackers kill a passenger and threaten to murder more innocent people if he doesn’t let them back into the cockpit, this ordinary man faces an excruciating test.” says Amazon’s official synopsis of the movie.
The film also stars Omid Memar and Murathan, “7500” was shot in one-third part of a real Airbus and Thorsten Sabel, the production designer known for Amelie, The Reader, Nymphomaniac and Cloud Atlas has designed the flight accessories.
There have been several films showing plane hijacking scenarios especially from a rescuers point of view including critically acclaimed “United 93”, Die Hard 2, Passenger 57 and Shimizu Takashi’s 2014 suspense thriller Flight 7500. Similarly, Levitt’s character Tobias is also forced in a situation where “To fight is to die, to escape is to win”.
7500 releases for stream on July 19, 2020, in Amazon prime video.
I do not hate people, but I despise their existence. Hi, I’m an actor, writer, poet, visual artist, a man of science and also the least favourite person in my family. Our beloved Hemingway, once said "There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed." I believed in this quote humbly, truly and faithfully, now I have Anemia. I hope you like my works and if you do then please tell the President about it (seriously, all we want is fame).
