The Circle: Season 2, Cast and other Happenings

How about a show where you can fool someone into liking you through your social media profile? Seems insanely real, right? (I almost wept!) Netflix’s show “The Circle”, explores a difficult and ‘really’ real premise, where reality show contestants try to lure each other into liking them by creating fake imageries of themselves on a social media app, and the ones with most ‘likes’ are considered superior to others (I weep for humanity).
This creative show came at a time when the population was suffering from intense social media pressure, teenagers were hoarding for likes and attention (pedophiles were hoarding for teenagers), political parties were campaigning (or raging) on the internet, companies were promoting (also demoting) products through social media, and Illuminati was – Well, you know, all over. Upon its release in America, the show became an instant favorite, and after season 1, the fans now expect a new installment. Although during this pandemic, it is impossible for productions to create content, still, fans are craving for news about season 2.

  Will there be a Season 2?

Season 2 was always there, especially after the success of season 1. Netflix has already renewed “The Circle” for two more seasons! But unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the shoot couldn’t start. We don’t have a release date for the second season, but we speculate that the new installment will air in 2021.

There hasn’t been an official announcement about the cast and unfortunately, we can’t say anything about it, but the show’s producer, Tim Harcourt, told “Variety” – “We wanted people from lots of different backgrounds. Other reality shows, whether it’s ‘Real Housewives’ or ‘Jersey Shore,’ they’re all one gang of quite similar characters. What ‘The Circle’ gave us the opportunity to do was cast a very diverse net across the United States. One of the positive things social media does is it can connect people who otherwise might not have come into contact with each other, so I thought it was quite nice to replicate that in the casting,”. The show will have eight members, and every time someone gets eliminated or blocked, he/she gets replaced by someone else. The producers decide upon the replacement, and so, around Twenty-five members participate in the game.

    What is the show about?

“The Circle” is originally a UK-based show, after the success of the show in England, Netflix decided to make three versions of the show in America, Brazil, and France. The American version of the show premiered in January 2020 and was an instant hit. The show follows eight participants, all living in different apartments on the same building, they are allowed to communicate through a social media app. The contestants are not allowed to meet each other in real-life and are given various tasks to get likes and reactions through the social media app, the participants have to develop a fake image of themselves on the app in order to make others like them. At the end of each week, the participant with most likes/followers wins and gets the power to block or eliminate one participant. The audience also gets to vote for their favorites and at the winner gets $100,000.
