Abbott Elementary Season 2: Release Date, Cast, and more!
Created by Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary is an American mockumentary sitcom television series. The series premiered as a midseason entry in the 2021–22 television season on December 7, 2021.
Brunson is also the executive producer alongside Randall Einhorn, Justin Halpern, and Patrick Schumacker. In March 2022, the series was renewed for a second season, which is set to premiere very soon.

Abbott Elementary Plot and Cast
Abbott Elementary Season 1 ending, which featured the Abbott teachers taking the kids on a field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo, sets up a few plot points. Quinta Brunson has teased (via EW) potential storylines for Abbott Elementary season 2 based on how the first season ended, saying that Abbott Elementary season 2 would show Janine navigating life as a single woman in her 20s.
The next season would also touch more upon Barbara now that she’s decided to delay her retirement from teaching, follow Melissa as she explores her new relationship, and see Jacob–as well as the other teachers–learn and grow as educators.
It’s safe to say that Abbott Elementary’s diverse cast will feature plenty of returning members. It includes Quinta Brunson as Janine Teagues, Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, and Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard.
The one unclear cast member is Zach Fox, who plays Janine’s boyfriend since the couple decided to take a break. However, Fox could still appear again in some capacity.
Abbott Elementary Season 2 Release Date
The series currently holds an approval rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. On March 14, 2022, the series was renewed for a second season.
ABC announced that Abbott Elementary Season 2 will premiere on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. The new season might also have 13 episodes like the first season, although this is not confirmed yet.
