Ahsoka: Release Date, Plot and more!

Created by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, Ahsoka is an upcoming American television limited series. It is part of the Star Wars franchise, a spin-off of the series The Mandalorian featuring the character Ahsoka Tano from that series and other Star Wars media. Ahsoka is set in the same timeframe as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

The filming began in early May 2022, with multiple characters from the animated series Star Wars Rebels revealed to be appearing at the end of that month. Ahsoka is scheduled to be released in 2023.

So, when is the upcoming season is releasing? What is the plot? Who would come back to reprise their roles? Continue reading to know further details.

Ahsoka Plot and Cast

Like pretty much every recent Star Wars project, plot details are being kept to a strict minimum, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a pretty good idea of where Ahsoka’s story is going next. Towards the end of her episode on The Mandalorian, Ahsoka’s goal became quite clear.

After her duel with Morgan Elsbeth, Ahsoka made it clear that she was on the hunt for a bigger fish: Grand Admiral Thrawn, the Chiss Imperial leader and a major antagonist from Star Wars Rebels. Despite tangling with a multitude of Sith Lords and Inquisitors, Thrawn was one of the most ruthless and formidable opponents that the band of Rebels had ever faced, pushing the team to their physical and mental limits.

The show’s conclusion felt less like an ending and more of a cliffhanger, with both Thrawn and Rebels protagonist Ezra Bridger disappearing into the vastness of space. So if Thrawn truly is alive like Ahsoka believes he is, there’s a good chance that Ezra could still be out there as well, making Ahsoka, not just a continuation of Tano’s story, but also a direct sequel to Star Wars Rebels.

Aside from Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka, Dave Filoni officially announced Natasha Liu Bordizzo has joined the cast as Sabine Wren, another prominent character from Star Wars Rebels (voiced by Tiya Sircar) at the Star Wars Celebration. Reports from The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline have confirmed that Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno will be in the series. Stevenson is rumored to be playing a villain, possibly an admiral for the rising First Order, while Sakhno’s role is unknown. Some characters are still unrevealed at this moment. We have to wait and see what comes next.

Ahsoka Release Date

No exact date has been announced for Filoni’s live-action series, but it will come as soon as next year alongside The Mandalorian season three.

During the Star Wars Celebration in May 2022, Dawson told fans she had literally just come from the Ahsoka set to be at the Anaheim convention for the Mando+ panel. So it’s probably safe to say that Ahsoka will be released on Disney+ after The Mandalorian season-three premiere in February 2023.
