All about DC’s Stargirl: Release date, cast and storyline

DC’s Stargirl is a new series coming with bang on 19th May in CW’s Arrowverse to cheer up your quarantine. Brec Bassinger will be seen as teenager Courtney Whitmore aka Stargirl, the first American to portray this superhero role (previous Stargirl actors were all Canadians).

Based on the comic ‘Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E.’ by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder, the upcoming show is a revised version of this comic towards a new generation of superheroes united under Justice Society of America. Courtney is a highschool teenager whose biological father departed from the family years ago. After Courtney’s mother marries Pat (Luke Wilson), they move to a new town. Here Courtney secretly discovers that his stepfather was once a sidekick to Starman. While investigating more, she gets chosen by the cosmic staff with miraculous powers to carry on the legacy of Starman, who was accompanied by Courtney’s stepfather Pat wearing Robo-amour suit S.T.R.I.P.E.. Courtney unites several other superheroes in the Justice Society of America to combat in unison against the evil and misfortune brought forth to their land by a legion called the Injustice Society.

The first season will have 13 episodes and each episode will appear every Tuesday on CW starting from 19th May. Though it is noteworthy that the series will premiere a day earlier on DC Universe streaming service on Monday 18th May. DC Universe platform will also feature bonus videos, exclusives, extended versions of select episodes and behind-the-scenes footage, which will not be available on CW.

The advent and rise of Stargirl is on an Earth different other Arrowverse heroes. Despite of this there is buzz that both Green Lantern and Flash might appear in this show or in a crossover, as both them are a part of Justice Society of America in DC comics.
