Written by Ben Vanstone, All Creatures Great and Small is a television series, set in 1937. It is based upon a series of books about a Yorkshire veterinarian written by Alf Wight under the pen name of James Herriot. The executive producers of the show are Colin Callender, Melissa Gallant, Hugo Heppell, and Rebecca Eaton.
The series premiered in the UK on Channel 5 on 1 September 2020 and in the US on PBS as part of Masterpiece on 10 January 2021. Following a second series in late 2021, the show was renewed for two further series, each composed of six episodes and a Christmas special, in January 2022. Filming on the third series began in March 2022.
So, when is the upcoming season releasing? What is the synopsis? Who would be cast in lead roles? Continue reading to know further.
All Creatures Great and Small Plot and Cast
The opening two series of All Creatures have been about whether James and Helen would get together or not. It was touch and go, especially when Helen almost married another man. However, photos taken during the filming of the new series appear to confirm that James and Helen get married in All Creatures Great and Small season 3.
Producer Ben Vanstone told The Mirror “In season three, Helen and James have become engaged, so I think it’s fair to say there may be a marriage on the horizon, perhaps. It’s 1939, so it will come as no surprise that war is looming and that will increasingly cast a shadow over our characters’ lives.”
“Ultimately, our show is about Darrowby and the world of the Yorkshire Dales and the farmers within it.”
All the main cast are expected to return. James (Nicholas Ralph) and Helen (Rachel Shenton) are finally an item of course. We expect more disputes between Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse) and his older brother Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West).
Plus the wonderful Mrs. Hall (Anna Madeley) is back. While Miranda star Patricia Hodge continues as eccentric dog owner Mrs. Pumphrey — the role played in the first series by the late Diana Rigg.
All Creatures Great and Small Season 3 Release Date
It has been revealed when the new episodes will land in America. Masterpiece on PBS has confirmed that the Skeldale House gang be back with even more creatures and crises in early 2023. Viewers will be able to catch the first episode on the channel at 9/8c on Sunday 8 January 2023.
