What is the “American Gods” about?

Based on English Author Neil Gaiman’s 2001 Hugo- and Nebula-winning novel of the same name, “American Gods” is an American fantasy drama television series developed by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green for the premium cable network Starz and produced by Fremantle North America with Gaiman serving as the executive producer that made its premiere on 30 April 2017.

Starring Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon and Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday, the show depicts a growing conflict between “Old Gods” and “New Gods”.

The first season showed us how the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world were bleeding followers to the “New Gods”, an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity, and drugs.

According to Rotten Tomatoes’ plot summary, Ex-convict Shadow Moon roams a world he doesn’t understand, left adrift by the recent, tragic death of his wife. Little does he know his life is about to change after he meets a crafty, charismatic con man named Mr. Wednesday, who offers Shadow a job as his bodyguard. As their journey begins, Shadow encounters a hidden America where magic is real and fear grows over the ascending power of New Gods like Technology and Media. In a grand plan to combat the threat, Mr. Wednesday attempts to unite the Old Gods to defend their existence and rebuild the influence that they’ve lost, leaving Shadow struggling to accept this new world and his place in it.

SEASON 3 DETAILS:

Season 3 of the American Gods made its debut on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at 8 P.M on Starz with a set of ten episodes.

In Season Three, Shadow angrily pushes this apparent destiny away and settles in the idyllic snowy town of Lakeside, Wisconsin -to make his own path, guided by the gods of his black ancestors, the Orishas. However, he’ll soon discover that this town’s still waters run deep, and dark, and bloody, and that you don’t get to simply reject being a god. The only choice -and a choice you have to make -is what kind of god you’re going to be.

Where and How can I stream “American Gods”?

You can stream the whole season on the Starz app and on subscription services like Hulu and Amazon Video.
