Season 18 of the American Idol premiered on February 16, 2020. This is the 3rd season of the show to air on NBC.
The current judges of the season are Ryan Seacrest, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan with Bobby Bones as the mentor of this season’s contestants.
Auditions
Twenty-two cities were visited by the crew beginning with Nashville, Tennessee on June 7-8, 2019. Many more cities like Savannah, Georgia; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles, California, and others. The auditions could also be submitted via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Musical.ly.
Hollywood Week
The Hollywood Week round is where the contestants would perform in front of the judges for advancing to the next round. The contestants could perform in solos and in groups.
The Following Rounds
Judgement Round also is known as “Line of Nine” where participants lined up in sets of nine to perform a song individually.
Duet Round tests the ultimate stability of the artist in a duet performance.
Solo Round had the contestants qualified from the previous round to now perform solo in front of the judges

Season 18 Finale
The top 10 contestants will perform on May 3, hosted by Ryan Seacrest. The contestants will be performing from their hometowns rather than in the studio in LA. Thus they have to shine totally based on their voice rather than depending on any production values and the live crowd. The top 10 will perform on May 3 in live shows and the season 18 “American Idol” winner will be chosen on May 17 finale.
The judges will also be sending in their views and comments from the ease of their home.
