Andor Season 2: Release Date, Plot, and more!

Created by Tony Gilroy, Andor is an upcoming television series made for Disney+. The show is a prequel to the Star Wars film, Rogue One, and follows the character Cassian Andor five years before the events of the film.

Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Gilroy, and Diego Luna are the executive producers of the show. Stephen Schiff was originally chosen as the showrunner and was later replaced by Tony Gilroy. Filming of the show began in November 2020 and ended in September 2021.

So, when is the second season releasing? What is the plot? Who has been cast in the lead roles? Keep reading to know further details.

Andor Plot and Cast

Since Season 1 has not premiered yet, we cannot predict what would happen in Andor Season 2. However, it will continue from where Season 1 would end.

Andor is set five years before Rebel spies recovered plans to the Death Star, paving the way for Luke Skywalker to fire those fateful proton torpedoes down an exhaust port. The series focuses on Cassian Andor, a secret service operative working for the Rebellion against the Empire.

The casting of Adria Arjona as Andor’s sister will bring better insight into his family and upbringing throughout the show. However, it seems like we won’t get to see the return of the playful dynamic between Cassian and K-250 since actor Alan Tudyk has confirmed he would not appear in the first season but might join it later.

LucasFilm has promised that the scale of the project would be as epic as it would be in a big screen project. Audiences don’t need to doubt him for now following the blockbuster feel of fellow Disney+ original The Mandalorian.

Coming to the cast, we would get to see Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly. Other cast members include Forest Whitaker and Robert Emms in other important roles.

The first season of Andor would premiere on August 31, 2022. It has been renewed for a second season before the premiere of Season 1 and considering that Season 2 should premiere sometime in 2023.

The new season will also consist of 12 episodes and the runtime has not been revealed yet. The series is being distributed by Disney Platform Distribution.
