Anna Kendrick’s Love Life Episodes Are Now Hitting HBO Max A Lot Sooner?

Love Life is the first scripted series for adults to go out on the HBO Max streaming service. It is amiable, light, and – flaws aside – easily bingeable.

What do we know about Love Life?

The story focuses on Darby played by Anna Kendrick. She is a young woman whose perfectly rom-com career rise in the art musuem and auction-house world in New York City.

We then follow Darby from her feckless and underemployed youth toward an adulthood marked by a bit more melancholy. This, with a lot of care.

“Love Life” is amply watchable. The Magnus plotline’s sprawl defying the rules the show itself has set forth. It kind of  epitomizes this : He’s a character more compelling than anything else on screen. But his awfulness makes Darby’s ongoing tolerance seem beyond relief only if there weren’t so much time to fill and she weren’t a central character who’s defined by her lack of definition.

The series is too low-fi to generate the sort of fireworks for the HBO Max launch that, say,” The Morning Show” did for Apple TV Plus at launch . It is also not quite a HBO show.

What do we know about the release of Love Life?

Love Life’s first three episodes premiered to a generally positive audience response. Since the viewers were liking what they were seeing, HBO Max  execs decided to drop remaining episodes of Love Life in batches instead of dropping weekly episodes. So, episodes 4-6 will debut on June 4. The remaining four episodes will be released on June 11.

Here’s what Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, had to say :

“HBO Max audiences have fallen in love with Love Life. It’s wonderfully gratifying to see that fans have immediately connected to the show and we are accelerating the release of episodes to meet their demand for more. We thrilled to see Love Life emerge as one of the top performers of all content on Max and we love to be able to reward viewers who started watching on day one.”
