Apple iPhone XR 2019 renders and 360-degree video show a square bump with dual cameras

Apple launched the iPhone XR last year which was the top-seller for the company in Q1 and Q2 2019. Mumblings about the next iPhone start long before the models are launched and the same is the case for the upcoming iPhone XR and its counterparts. The first 3D renders have already surfaced online showing a 50:50 mix of the old and new design.

From the renders, the device seems to sport a new rear design. There is a vertically arranged dual camera setup encased on a square bump similar to the one in the iPhone XI renders except that it has a triple camera setup. The front retains the same design as its predecessor with the same 6.1 size display.  The screen may be the same LCD panel after which Apple will switch to an OLED iPhone lineup in 2020.

The overall dimensions are the same except for the thickness. The iPhone XR 2019 is thinner measuring 7.8 mm and 8.5 mm when the camera bump is not included. To get an idea the current iPhone XR measures 8.3 mm without taking the small protruding camera.

There is no mention of the megapixels or sensor type but Apple is likely to go with the same combination of a regular and telephoto lens. The 2018 variant featured each with a 12MP sensor. The selfie camera will likely to be placed in the notch with the Face ID hardware from the company.

 

According to latest rumors, Apple will be switching to USB Type-C ports in the new iPhones but the renders beg to differ. That said, renders are not always reliable when it comes to telling ports apart. Apple didn’t give any official word on the specs so we can’t comment with certainty. Using USB Type-C would be a nice addition allowing people to use the new 18W chargers. But it is highly doubtful that it will be shipped with the handsets, especially the XR.
