Apple patents acoustic fingerprint imaging for full screen Touch-ID for upcoming iPhone and it’s other devices

When Apple launched the Touch-ID, it was revolutionary. This feature was widely adopted by other manufacturers in a very short period of time. But Apple ditched this technology in favor of Face-ID. This technology has its own fan base but Touch-ID remained quicker and easier for the users. According to the latest reports, Apple is working on acoustic fingerprint imaging technology that can offer full-screen Touch-ID.

Full-Screen Touch-ID on upcoming iPhones

According to the new patents found by Patently Apple, the company is working to implement an in-display fingerprint sensor. The entire display acts as a fingerprint sensor, so placing a finger on any part of the display can unlock the device. So instead of placing the finger in one spot, users can place a finger on any part of the screen to unlock. In a patent granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office, the company describes an acoustic fingerprint imaging technology. The acoustic transducers vibrate the surface in a specific way which makes the entire display work as the fingerprint sensor.

Previous reports also suggested that Apple is considering a new tech for unlocking, which basically scans veins on your face to unlock the device. So Apple might be working on these two new technologies. The iPhone 11 or any upcoming iPhones for that matter might support any of these unlocking features. Talking about the iPhone 11, the previous leaks suggested us dimensions and information of the iPhone 11 and 11 Max. The report suggests that these devices are going to be larger and thicker. The reason for this might be the larger batteries present on iPhone 11 and 11 Max. It is worth stating that both the iPhones are going to come with triple rear camera setup with a bit dense and raised camera bump.

We highly doubt Apple will move back to Touch-ID after ditching it in the favor of Face-ID. None of the aforementioned information was confirmed by the company. The company is going to announce the iPhone 11 series of devices in the month of September. For more Apple coverage stay tuned with us.
