The Success of Season 2 of Dead To Me

Season one of this comedy-drama series had a very good reach and the trend continued with season 2 also. But much to our surprise, Season 2 bagged a position in TOP 10 list offered to us by Netflix. There is no appropriate metrics on the number of viewers of this series, but Netflix has shocked us by revealing that Dead To Me is the most-watched series on its platform. This has come as a green signal for the renewal of Dead To Me for a new season. All the episodes of the last season are so thrilling that you are unconsciously transported to Jen and Judy’s world.

The same cast is said to remain if Dead To Me get another chance of survival. Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini bring us the lead characters. Sam Mc Carthy, James Marsden, and Luke Roessler will continue with the next season also because such characters are very important for the story to proceed. However, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Liz Feldman the creator of the show tells us that it is possible that we can lose one of the main stars- Jen or Judy. He adds that just because of Jen’s last words- “oh, shit” is heard, we must not confirm that she is alright. The accident will have major consequences on their lives and to the storyline.

This leaves us a message that one of our favorite girls might leave the world in the show and the show itself. We don’t know if we can imagine a Dead To Me without one of the two. But this is left to the writer’s room only.

What is the Plot of Season 3?

Though season 3 manages to tie up all the loose ends, it still leaves a cliffhanger ending. The finale of season 2 ends with Jen and Judy celebrating their riches by taking a ride in the new car which crashes and ends in a brutal accident. The man behind the crash is Benjamin, the twin of Steve played by James Marsden. But we have a prominent doubt here as to whether Ben did the crash accidentally or deliberately. Again, this question necessitates a new season. But, Feldman simply answers, “We did not create a writer’s room for another season yet”.

If you look at it closely, you will find that the word yet has some significant meaning. The ‘yet’ has the ability to start a new season. We did not receive any official announcement regarding the renewal. We can expect it anytime soon. Season 1 premiered on Netflix in May 2019. Within one month of the same year, the team announced a renewal of a new season. If that pattern is followed, we may find the announcement turning up in June this year.

What is the Release Date?

Season 1 released in May 2019 followed by Season 2 in May 2020. So we can expect the release of Season 3 in May 2021. However, energy production is halted by the current pandemic situation throughout the world. This can have a negative impact on the release date.

Netflix is notorious for its ‘three and outs’ model. According to this, all series it produces will have three installments, and then it will be moved to trash. So we might receive the third season of Dead To Me as the last one.
