It has been 18 years since Austin Powers in Goldmember first hit screens in 2002. Mike Myers, the producer of the Austin Powers franchise, said in 2005 that he misses the characters. Fans started expecting a sequel with this statement, and those expectations have only increased ever since. There have been rumours and news about the fourth Austin Powers film ever since that Myers’ statement in 2005, but none have come to fruition so far. We can expect the fourth film whenever there is a good enough script in Myers’ mind, said the director of the franchise Jay Roach.
Cast of Austin Powers 4
There cannot be an Austin Powers film without the talismanic Mike Myers. Myers played the role of the titular character Austin Powers and the role of his nemesis and long lost twin brother, Dr. Evil. It only makes sense for him to reprise those roles, and other characters, such as Fat Bastard and Goldmember too, if there is to be a fourth film.
As for the rest of the cast, there is not much concrete information. Michael York, Robert Wagner, Mindy Sterling and Seth Green are the actors who have appeared in all three films so far. So it would make sense for them to reprise their characters for the fourth film as well. We could see a return of their characters Basil Exposition, Number 2, Frau Farbissina and Scott Evil, respectively, in Austin Powers 4. It’s also possible that Heather Graham and Beyoncé could be back as Felicity Shagwell and Foxxy Cleopatra, respectively, from the second and third AustinPowers movies.
We might not be seeing the character of Mini-Me in the fourth film, as the actor who played it, Verne Troyer, sadly passed away in 2018. Although, Mike Myers had said that if and when the fourth film happens, he would definitely pay tribute to the late actor in some way.
Release Date of Austin Powers 4
The news of a fourth Austin Powers film has been around since the year 2005. However, there is still no official release date announced yet. Mike Myers had said in 2018 that the fourth film was looking good, with a script ready. In January 2020, director Jay Roach indicated that he would be interested in returning as director for the fourth film.
