The science-fiction comedy Avenue 5 is up for its succeeding season which got renewed in the month of February this year, immediately after the first season, which was premiered on January 19, 2020. Creator Armando Iannucci and his creative team gave birth to a brilliantly crafted show, stitched with impeccable plotlines, cast, cinematography, graphics, and every little thing that goes into the making. The subtlety of the show is what concreted the fan base, and led to the demand for the second season. Even the views had been quite high throughout the initial season, yet it had fluctuated in between. Iannucci had some words regarding the resumption of the show, “Nobody provides angst-ridden laughs better than Hugh Laurie, and we’re looking forward to seeing what further impossible situations and existential crises we can plunge him, Josh Gad and the rest of our fantastic cast into next. To the end of season one and beyond.” Any official date hasn’t been announced for the next release and it might get delayed due to the pandemic.
Guest Comedian comedy/writer Armando Lannucci on Hardtalk confirms helping RIGHT NOW to write the script for the second season of Avenue 5. Huzzah. Fingers crossed it won’t be too long into 2021.#HARDtalk#Avenue5#Avenue5season2
The storyline of Avenue 5 goes like this, “It has been described as ‘set in the future, mostly in space.’ Onboard the interplanetary cruise ship, the Avenue 5, a momentary loss of artificial gravity, and accidental death of its Chief Engineer sends the titular vessel a few degrees off course. It’s estimated it will take the ship three years to return to Earth, and with only enough supplies to sustain her many passengers for the intended eight-week long cruise, the crew of the cruise ship must struggle to maintain order and return the craft safely.” The show is produced by Steve Clark-Hall and executively produced by Kevin Loader, Will Smith, Tony Roche, Simon Blackwell, and Armando Iannucci.
Avenue 5 is the perfect amalgamation of humor, drama, and amiability. Even though there had been many other series and featured films with the same genre, yet somewhere stands out from others. The list of casts is long, starting with Hugh Laurie, Josh Gad, Zach Woods, Rebecca Front, Suzy Nakamura, Lenora Crichlow, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Ethan Phillips.
