Baby Driver was a surprise success for an action film. The film, directed by Edgar Wright, received huge praise for its sound technical aspects. The film’s story was developed over two decades, as was revealed by its director. The film was selected as one of the top films of 2017 by The National Board of Review of Motion Pictures. It collected $227 million at the global box office. The film was also nominated for three Academy Awards, two BAFTAs, two Critics’ Choice Awards and a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. A sequel to the film has been confirmed to be in the works since December of 2017.

Baby Driver 2 – What we know so far
Writer-director Edgar Wright has shared his intentions of continuing the story of Baby Driver. The studios also showed interest in the sequel, owing to the success of the first film. In December 2017, Wright said this when asked about a potential sequel to the film:
“I’m going to at least write a second one. I’ve definitely got lots of ideas. I would like to get back on the saddle very shortly, because — slightly beyond my control — but there was four years between The World’s End and Baby Driver. I don’t want it to be that long again. I would love to have a film out in the next two years.”
We haven’t had much news since then, but it was reported that the screenplay for the sequel was written by July 2019, and work had begun on the second film. Ansel Elgort and Lily James are both expected to return for the sequel; Ansel as Miles aka Baby, and Lily as Debora, Baby’s love interest. A host of new characters are also expected to be introduced in the sequel.

As for a release date or a trailer, there have been no official announcements as of now. However, we can expect the yet-untitled Baby Driver sequel to release in 2021.
