Hello, Readers! Daisy Haggard, star of Breeders and Episodes, has announced that Back to Life Season 2, her BBC Three comedy-drama, will return this year with a long-awaited second season.
The series, which was written by Haggard and comedian Laura Solon and premiered on the BBC iPlayer in 2019, follows Miri Matteson (Haggard), a woman in her thirties who returns home after serving an 18-year jail sentence and tries to rebuild her life.
The dark comedy led by Fleabag producers Harry and Jack Williams is currently filming for season two in Kent, and it will return Miri after the events of the last series, while two new characters arrive on the scene.

What is this about?
Miri’s mother Caroline had been having an affair with Dom, Miri’s high-school boyfriend, as the first series ended. Miri is not speaking to her mother or Mandy as the second season begins, but she is optimistic about the future.
She’s got a trial shift at the supermarket that could lead to a regular job, things with her next-door neighbor and potential love interest Billy are going well, and she’s found her crimper. She’s even discovering that not everyone in town thinks she’s the monster they thought she was. All of that, however, appears to be about to change with the return of some familiar faces.
Who’s in it?
Daisy Haggard, the series’ co-creator and writer, reprises her role as Miri Matteson, with Geraldine James as her mother Caroline and Richard Durden portraying her father Oscar. Christine Bottomley reprises her role as Miri’s old best friend Mandy, Jo Martin reprises her role as Miri’s probation worker Janice, and Juliet Cowan reprises her role as stupid local police officer Tina.
Lizzy McInnerny as Lara’s mother Norah Boback, Adrian Edmondson as John Boback, and Meera Syal as Billy’s mother Gaia are among the newcomers to the cast for season two.
