Written and illustrated by Paru Itagaki, “BEASTARS” is a Japanese coming-of-age fantasy manga series starring Chikahiro Kobayashi, Sayaka Senbongi, and Yuki Ono that takes place in a world of modern, civilized, anthropomorphic animals with a cultural divide between carnivores and herbivores, the first season of which originally aired on October 10, 2019.
The First Season was set in a world where beasts of all kinds coexist, a gentle wolf awakens to his own predatory urges as his school deals with murder within its midst. Following the Second Season that premiered on Thursday, July 15, 2021, on Netflix, we see Legoshi accepting his predatory instincts, and vows to become stronger for Hal’s sake. Meanwhile, the herbivore killer is still on the loose.
The first season left many questions. In fact, the hunt for the killer heats up in Season 2, when the All-Organism Council decides the next Beastar will be the one who solves Tem’s murder. Louis’ fate, uncertain in the first season, is revealed and he decides to quit school and work for the Shishigumi. And also, the play must go on! The presence of the new character Pina also makes plenty of waves. One major event in Season 2 is a duel that requires a major sacrifice from Louis and changes Legoshi’s status — complicating his life as well as his romance with Haru.
