Written and directed by Ari Aster who is also the producer of the upcoming American surrealist comedy horror film, Beau Is Afraid. The film features Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role and he is suffering from anxiety. He embarks on a unique journey following his mother’s demise and faces his greatest fears on his way.
With A24 as the co-producer and distributor, Beau Is Afraid marks the company’s other collaboration with Aster. The makers have confirmed that the movie will be released soon.

The makers have confirmed the release date of Beau Is Afraid. It will be released theatrically in the United States on April 21, 2023, by A24.
Originally the makers set to release the film in 2022 but for some unknown reasons, it got delayed. The film’s title was revealed in December last year and the original title, Disappointment Blvd, was changed.
Beau Is Afraid Plot and cast
It has been termed as a horror film set in an alternate world where Joaquin Phoenix portrays Beau, who is an anxious but pleasant-looking individual who does not share a good relationship with his mother and he does not know anything about his father. Following the death of his mother, he goes back home where he encounters some supernatural threats.
The main cast of Beau Is Afraid includes Joaquin Phoenix as Beau, Patti LuPone as Beau’s mother, Nathan Lane as Roger, Kylie Rogers as Toni, Hayley Squires as a younger Elaine, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Michael Gandolfini, Armen Nahapetian as teenage Beau, Zoe Lister-Jones as a younger Beau’s mother, Amy Ryan as Grace, Parker Posey as Elaine, Julia Antonelli as teenage Elaine, and Denis Ménochet as Jeeves. The American actor and comedian, Richard Kind is also featured in the film but the character of his yet to be confirmed.
