Better Call Saul: A Tragic Love Story?

akshitaaLove Stories are meant to be beautiful, aren’t they? But often they are turned into tragic incidents nobody wants to recall. From Romeo-Juliet of ancient times, and Tessa and Hardin of ‘After’ series of modern times, love stories have brought a tremendous change into lives. Talking about this, they have also evolved into dark and psychopathic love stories like Joe and Beck of ‘YOU’. This portrays the obsessive killing of each other.
No matter what the stories are, if it involves love then fans can not let it slide and end up shipping the couples. ‘Better Call Saul’ is an American television series. It showcases the crime drama genre. It is a prequel and spin-off of Gilligan’s prior series ‘Breaking Bad’. It premiered five seasons to date and sixth is said to be scheduled to air in 2021.
Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) is a con-man who turns a small-time lawyer. It happened six years before the events of Breaking Bad. Jimmy then becomes the lawyer for former police officer Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks). He also transforms himself into the persona of criminal ‘Saul Goodman’. He possesses certain skills that permit him to step inside the criminal underworld of drug trafficking.
McGill and Kim, our couple of the show, know each other from ‘Hamlin & McGill’ (HHM), the firm they once had worked in. As their interest in each other grows, the story starts evolving for the viewers’ entertainment.
The series was always plotted as for taking down Jimmy McGill. It was always intended to show his downfall. The only thing that we didn’t know was that he’d take Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) with him too.
The scene that turns the plot
It was often believed that Kim Wexler, Jimmy’s now-wife, and occasional partner in crime will leave him. The reason for that was as simple as Jimmy being too involved in his Saul’s games. The presumed theory for a very long time said that she will not entertain Jimmy’s Saul shenanigans if that becomes too much. And that did, Which meant it was time for her to leave her husband Jimmy.
However, the season 5 finale episode shows something else. Kim presents her husband Jimmy a.k.a Saul, with a decent proposal. She had just known that their latest tormenter, Lalo Salamanca, is going to get killed by organized crime forces south of the border. She expects her husband to stop things for a while. Because “Civilized” people don’t just kill one another. And also they could be killed because of his attempts if continued. She expects him to stop but never say that to him.
Throughout season 5, Jimmy was shown as the schemer and the con-man. Kim was always tagged along with him as his wife. She loved him and so love can make you do things. Hence, the wife’s leaving turned into sticking to the husband. It was hinted in the finale episode that if her husband doesn’t do what she expects then maybe the wife would become like him.
So, fans are speculating whether the couple would be together or will be drifted apart by death.
All the answers are going to get answered in the next season. All we’ve to do is, wait.
