Black-ish (stylized as black-ish) is a sitcom television series on ABC. The series is created by Kenya Barris. Since it first premiered in September 2014, six seasons of black-ish have aired on ABC so far. The series follows the story of an upper-middle-class African-American family, led by Andre “Dre” Johnson and Rainbow Johnson. The show revolves around the family’s lives, as they juggle to establish a sense of cultural identity for themselves. Black-ish was renewed for a seventh season on May 21, 2020.

Cast of Black-ish Season 7

The series stars Anthony Anderson as Andre “Dre” Johnson. Tracee Ellis Ross stars as Andre’s wife Rainbow Johnson. Yara Shahidi guest stars as Zoey Johnson, Andre, and Rainbow’s oldest child. She was a regular on the series until season 3, after which she left to star in the spin-off series Grown-ish. Marcus Scribner stars as Andre and Rainbow’s second child, Andre “Junior” Johnson Jr. Miles Brown stars as Dre and Rainbow’s third child, Jackson “Jack” Johnson. Marsai Martin stars as the fourth child of Dre and Rainbow and Jack’s fraternal twin, Diane Johnson. August and Berlin Gross star as Dre and Rainbow’s fifth child, DeVante Johnson. This character appeared on Black-ish as a series regular from season 3 onwards.

Other cast members of Black-ish include Anna Deavere Smith as Alicia Johnson, Rainbow’s widowed mother; Laurence Fishburne as Earl “Pops” Johnson, Dre’s father who lives with the family; Deon Cole as Charlie Telphy, Dre’s co-worker and best friend; Jenifer Lewis as Ruby Johnson, Dre’s mother; Jeff Meacham as Josh Oppenhol, Dre’s co-worker; and Peter Mackenzie as Leslie Stevens, Dre’s boss and co-owner of Stevens and Lido.

Black-ish Season 7 – Recent updates and premiere date

The series was renewed for a seventh season in May, 2020. The previous season had an average demo rating of 0.59 in the 18-49 demographic, and 2.63 million average number of viewers across 23 episodes.
