Black Panther was the first superhero film to introduce a black superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film accomplished quite a lot of successes. It was the first superhero film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. It was also the first MCU film to win an Academy Award. Black Panther won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Original Score. The film was directed by Ryan Coogler. It raked in $1.3 billion at the global box office, which also set a record for the highest grossing film by a black director.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confimed a sequel to Black Panther at the San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019.

Ryan Coogler is confirmed to return as director for the second Black Panther film. Chadwick Boseman will reprise his role as the king of Wakanda and the Black Panther, T’Challa. Letitia Wright also returns to her role as T’Challa’s brilliant sister, Shuri. Danai Gurira also returns for the sequel. She plays the role of Okoye, the leader of the Dora Milaje, Wakanda’s all-female special forces. Martin Freeman has also been confirmed to reprise his role as CIA agent Everett Ross in the sequel. Whether Daniel Kaluuya returns to his role as T’challa’s confidant and best friend W’Kabi is yet to be confirmed.
Regarding the storyline of the sequel, director Ryan Coogler had this to say:
“I’d be really interested to see, you know, what kind of king he is with experience and how that affects his performance in the stories.”
So we can expect to see how T’Challa fares as the king of Wakanda after the events in the first film and those in Infinity War and Endgame.
Release Date of Black Panther 2
Black Panther is expected to be the last film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, although that still remains unconfirmed. It is scheduled to release on May 6, 2022.
