BLACK SUMMER

Created by Karl Schaefer and John Hyams, “Black Summer” is an American streaming television series starring Jaime King, Justin Chu Cary, Christine Lee, set in the dark, early days of a zombie apocalypse, complete strangers band together to find the strength they need to survive and get back to loved ones, the first season of which was released on April 11, 2019.

SEASON 2 DETAILS:

Season two might have premiered in the midst of summer Thursday, June 17, 2021, on Netflix but the trailer opens in Winter that comes with cold-blooded new challenges during the zombie apocalypse as frantic scavengers and violent militias battle the dead and desperate.

Black Summer season 2 is mostly focused on its human relationships and conflicts this season, rather than on surviving zombie hordes. After the initial panic of the outbreak, humanity now breaks up into tiny factions, factions which even within themselves, turn on each other or leave others behind at a moment’s notice. This is not Rick Grimes’ big, loving Walking Dead family.

Simply put, this is an experiment in zombie storytelling that no one else is even close to, not even Black Summer’s sibling show, Z Nation, which took a much more comedic bend to the apocalypse. And at this point, The Walking Dead can’t just like…change over to this style of storytelling, so Black Summer has created a unique kind of apocalypse that can’t be matched.
