Developed by Gambit Films for Netflix, Blood & Water is a South African teen crime drama television series. The series follows a girl who transfers to an elite school when she suspects one of the students may be her sister, who was abducted as a baby.
The first season of the show premiered on 20 May 2020, followed by the second season premiered on 24 September 2021. The makers have renewed the show for a third season, on 6 April 2022, it was revealed the upcoming season is under production.

Blood & Water has a great modern take on how it incorporates societal and cultural nuances into the series. It also highlights the way tech and social media have affected human connections. The cast members expected to return includes Ama Qamata, Khosi Ngema, Thabang Molaba, Dillon Windvogel, Arno Greef, Ryle de Morny, Natasha Tahane, Mekaila Mathys, Cindy Mahlangu, and Duane Williams. Meanwhile, Gretel Fincham, Katishcka Chanderlal, and Alzavia Abrahams will also return as they had more prominent roles in Season 2.

Production on the second season was delayed a bit due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, there was over a year between season one and season two’s premiere.
