Books of Blood: Cast and Plot
The book series is a collection of six horror fiction anthologies that Barker collected in 1984 and 1985. Even though Barker was originally a playwright, this collection brought Barker to a wider audience and made his career as a novelist successful. The film brings three of these stories to life.
Anna Friel plays Mary in one of the stories, where a psychologist tries to debunk psuedoscience theories and other superstitious beliefs. She feels her beliefs are shaken when she meets Simon, played by Rafi Gavron. He claims that he can speak to her dead seven-year old son, who died because of leukaemia.
American actress Britt Robertson plays Jenna in another story, who is a sensitive young girl afflicted with misphonia, an distaste of sound. She tries to escape to Los Angeles when she finds out her mother is about to get rid of her.
Yul Vasquez plays Bennett, a professional killer, in the last story. His latest kill tells him about a priceless book that can assure his wife and he can retire peacefully. However, he is unaware of the supernatural horrors associated with the book.
