Netflix’s Bright, starring Will Smith is one of the most streamed movies on the platform, despite receiving negative reviews from critics. Bright is an urban fantasy fiction film based in a world where humans and mythical creatures live together. The story of the film revolves around an LAPD police officer and his orc partner trying to save a mythical creature, a Bright, and her magic wand, while also combating racism and corruption in the police department. After the release of the film in December 2017, Netflix quickly announced a surprise sequel to the film.

Bright 2- What we know so far
The first film ended with Daryl and Nick succeeding in their mission to stop Leilah from resurrecting the Dark Lord. They also managed to save both Tikka, the elf-girl and the magic wand from getting into the wrong hands. Although they did have to come up with a cover story for all the events that had happened, Daryl and Nick form a strong partnership as police officers of the LAPD.

Details regarding the storyline of the sequel are not out yet. However, Joel Edgerton was quoted in 2019 saying this about the sequel:
“All I can probably assume is that most sequels go a little bit bigger the second time around so I think we’re going to tune the dial up to eleven. There may be a slightly more international flavor about Bright 2, we might go outside the boundaries of Downton Los Angeles.”
Cast and Release Date of Bright 2
Will Smith and Joel Edgerton will be reprising their roles as LAPD police officers Daryl Ward and Nick Jakoby, respectively. Lucy Fry is also expected to return to her role as Tikka, the magic elf-girl. David Ayer, who directed the first film, is also expected to return as director for the sequel. Although in May 2020 there were reports that Netflix was negotiating with Loius Leterrier, director of The Incredible Hulk and Now You See Me, to direct the sequel to Bright.
The sequel was announced in January 2018, right after the release of the first fiilm. Filming is yet to begin on the sequel. It was supposed to begin in April 2019 but was delayed because of Will Smith’s busy schedule. In September 2019, Lucy Fry stated that production had been pushed back again. With all the delays and the COVID-19 pandemic, production of the sequel will probably take some time and we do not have an official release date yet.
