Written by Steve Purcell, Cars on the Road is an upcoming computer-animated series made for Disney+. Pete Docter is the executive producer of the show while it is produced by Marc Sondheimer.
Pixar announced the series back in December 2020 and confirmed its development the same time. It was reported the following year that characters from the Planes franchise will also appear in the series. The brand new show is scheduled to premiere soon.

Cars on the Road Plot and Cast
The basic premise will follow Lightning McQueen and his best friend Mater on a cross-country road trip around the United States. It is set in the world filled with anthropomorphic talking cars and other vehicles.
The episodes will depict characters in different scenarios, for example, them being chased by the dinosaur-like cars. It will be set in the new locations with new characters, additionally featuring returns of the already established characters from the franchise.
It was confirmed a long time ago that Owen Wilson will voice the character of Lightning McQueen and Larry the Cable Guy will portray Mater. The rest of the cast members include Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin, Lloyd Sherr and Quinta Brunson. Any further additions shall be announced soon.
Cars on the Road Release Date
After a long speculation, the makers have confirmed that Cars on the Road would premiere on September 8, 2022. It has been revealed that all the episodes would be released on the same day.
The series is confirmed to have nine episodes and the renewal would depend on the response that will be received for the first season. The series is produced by Pixar Animation Studios.
