Created by Ava DuVernay, Cherish the Day is a romantic drama anthology television series, made for Oprah Winfrey Network. DuVernay is also the executive producer alongside Paul Garnes, Tanya Hamilton and Oprah Winfrey.
The first season of the series premiered on February 11, 2020 and received positive reviews from critics. It currently holds an approval rating of 78% on Rotten Tomatoes and considering the positive response, the makers have already renewed the series for a second season.

Cherish the Day Plot and Cast
Although the makers have not revealed much about the plot of Cherish the Day Season 2, it is expected to continue from where Season 1 ended. It chronicles the relationship of one couple, with each episode spanning a single day.
In Season 2, the rekindling of a romance will be told – the love story of Ellis and Sunday, who fell in love in high school but find themselves reunited in New Orleans. Ellis is a former basketball player who is now a single father of two, and Sunday is a vegan celebrity chef on the cusp of fame.
Talking about the cast, the leads of Season 1 are expected to reprise their roles. This includes Xosha Roquemore, Alano Miller, Michael Beach, Anne-Marie Johnson, Kellee Stewart and Dorien Wilson. Since it is a new season, we can expect to see some new faces.
Cherish the Day Season 2 Release Date
The first season of Cherish the Day was released in February 2020 and it was renewed for a second season in October 2020. It’s been a long time since the renewal and considering that, the second season should premiere in 2022.
The new season might consist of eight episodes like Season 1, although an official confirmation is awaited. The series is produced by Warner Horizon Scripted Television, Harpo Films and ARRAY Filmworks.
