Created by Don Mancini, Chucky is an American horror television series. The series is based on the Child’s Play film franchise. It serves as a sequel to Cult of Chucky, the seventh film in the franchise. Developed by Syfy and USA Network, the series follows Chucky as he commits a series of mysterious murders in a quiet city in the United States.

Mancini is also the executive producer alongside Jeff Renfroe, Harley Peyton, Alex Hedlund, Nick Antosca, and David Kirschner. The series premiered simultaneously on Syfy and the USA Network on October 12, 2021, and received generally positive reviews from critics. In November 2021, the series was renewed for a second season which is set to premiere on October 5, 2022.

Chucky Plot and Cast

The series is a sequel to the book “Cult of Chucky. “There are seven books in the franchise series. Jake Wheeler, a 14-year-old boy, is obsessed with toys. The nightmare begins when he purchases Chucky at the yard sale to tear out his school project. When Jake’s homophobic father sees the doll, he prevents Jake from bringing more dolls to his house. His rage is after Lexy comments on Jake being gay. Jake takes Chucky to school with the hope of finding a suitable buyer.

Sooner, Jake realizes that the doll is haunted by Charles, who died of a gunshot. When Chucky starts killing people, Jake is suspected to be behind all these murders. The series also focuses on Charles’s past until the events leading to him possessing Chucky. A good doll turns wild! Jake finds himself in trying situations, one of them being gay in a homophobic environment.

There is no information on which cast members will come back at this installment. But we can predict that Zackary Arthur will return as Jake Wheeler, Björgvin Arnarson as Devon Evans, Alyvia Alyn Lind as Lexy Cross, Jacob Breedon as Chucky double, David Kohlsmith as young Charles Lee Ray, and many more.

Chucky Season 2 Release Date

Season 2 of Chucky is set to premiere in the fall of 2022, although no official date has been set. Since the series took only five months to be filmed, the second season should be expected in 2022 or mid-2023.

The first season of the series has only five episodes out, and the trend is promising. So we can assume that the new season also might have the same number of episodes.
