Conversations with Friends: Release date, Cast, Plot, Trailer, and More!

After striking huge glory with Normal People, Hulu is collaborating with the show’s creative team again to adapt Sally Rooney’s 2017 debut novel, Conversations with Friends. It comprises a 12-episode limited series. With Normal People director Lenny Abrahamson and writer Alice Birch taking the lead, and BBC Three co-producing, the stars will be aligned for another streaming sensation.

Conversations with Friends: Cast and Plot!

Conversations with Friends will keep its cast relatively small. Newcomer Alison Oliver (Frances), a graduate of Dublin’s drama school Lir Academy. This is where Normal People star Paul Mescal also graduated. American Honey breakout Sasha Lane will play Bobbi, while Joe Alwyn (The Favourite) stars as Nick, and Jemima Kirke (Girls) plays Melissa.

“Conversations with Friends” is all about the complicated nature of modern relationships, their messiness, ambiguity, and the many forms of love and dependency. Rooney’s 2017 novel follows two Dublin-based college students, Frances (the narrator) and her ex-girlfriend-turned-best friend, Bobbi, as they become romantically intertwined with an older, sophisticated married couple in their 30s.
Hulu describes Frances as observant, cerebral, and sharp, while Bobbi is self-assured, outspoken, and compelling.
They broke up three years ago. But they’re still inseparable, performing poetry together around Dublin. Then they meet Melissa, a writer, at one of their shows and start spending more time with her and her husband, Nick. Their friendship with the older couple turns into flirtations, which leads to an intense secret affair that later tests the bond between Bobbi and Frances.

Conversations with Friends: Trailer and Release date!

The trailer is not released yet but Hulu has released the teaser on 8 February 2022 and shows the cast in character. We see some major sexual tension between Nick and Frances, as the couples’ lives begin to intertwine. Check it out here:
