History Was Not Made By Those Who Did Nothing.

The historical drama web series The Crown telling us the tale of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II is up for it’s fourth season and fans couldn’t be any more excited. The series is already under production and we managed to scavenge the information about the fresh, new one.

The Netflix series is created and written by Peter Morgan and produced by Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television. The old casts of the first two seasons were replaced with the new ones in the third of the series, but the quality didn’t drop a bit. Their impeccable acting skills were applauded by the fans. Due to the pandemic, the release of season 4 might be a bit delayed, and the elation is increasing day by day. Hence there is no official release date as of yet. But it is also suspected that it will be available on Netflix at the end of this year and the shooting will resume next month.

The first season covers the period from Queen Elizabeth and Philip, Duke of Edinburgh’s marriage in 1947 to the disintegration of her sister Princess Margaret’s engagement to Group Captain Peter Townsend in 1955. The second season covers the period from the Suez Crisis in 1956 to the retirement of Prime Minister Harold Macmillan in 1963 and the birth of Prince Edward in 1964. And the third spans the period between 1964 and 1977, including Harold Wilson’s two periods as prime minister, and introduces Camilla Shand. So, what can we expect from the fourth season? The fourth will include Margaret Thatcher’s premiership and introduce Lady Diana Spencer. We can also witness the assassination of Louis Mountbatten along with the Falklands War, President Ronald Reagan’s administration if we follow the historical timeline.

The Crown starred Claire Foy in the first two seasons and Olivia Colman in the third as Queen Elizabeth II; Matt Smith for the first two and Tobias Menzies for the third as Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh; Vanessa Kirby (for seasons 1 and 2) and Helena Bonham Carter for the third as Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon. Emerald Fennell plays Camilla Shand, Michael Maloney as Edward Heath, Andrew Buchan as Andrew Parker Bowles, Victoria Hamilton (seasons 1 and 2), and Marion Bailey (for season 3) as Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, John Lithgow as Winston Churchill and the list goes on.
