Teen thriller drama, Cruel Summer is created y Bert V. Royal and is produced for Freeform. Bert is also the executive producer alongside Max Winkler, Tia Napolitano, Jessica Biel, and Michelle Purple.

The first season of the show premiered on April 20, 2021. The series received positive reviews from critics and currently holds an approval rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. The show has been already renewed for a second season and it is scheduled to release soon.

The first season of Cruel Summer premiered on April 2021 and it was renewed for another season in June 2021. Considering that, the makers have officially confirmed that the second season will be premiered sometime in June 2023 but the specific release date is yet to be announced.

The upcoming season is expected to have ten episodes like Season 1. However, any further changes are expected to be announced by the makers in the next few months.

The new season will definitely pick up from where Season 1 ended. Jeanette might be mentally ill and the guilt of leaving Kate to rot in the basement will possibly get to her. Kate might find out everything and there are many questions left to answer including the future of Kate’s relationship with Mallory.

Talking about the first season’s finale, Tia Napolitano said that they were already shooting and came up with a final twist, which takes it to the next level. Speaking about Jeanette’s deception, Tia said that Jeanette never lies and did not see Kate Wallis.

However, the makers have not revealed anything in detail about the second season. A report by Deadline says that Season 2 would feature a new story with the same cast or in the form of anthology, using the device of two points of view with two multiple timelines with a new group.
