We have a new music video from actor and rapper, Dandrell Scott! Scott previously released songs with Boosie Badazz and Twista. His latest track, “Math,” features production and lyrics from newcomer, Rio Moore. Yet, the most notable person on this record is Chicago’s own, Sasha Go Hard. Sasha has been featured on Netflix’s Rhythm & Flow, Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq, and Insecure. All three emcees bring unique lyrics to a hard-hitting beat that is reminiscent of Chicago’s old drill music. But this isn’t your typical drill song.
“Math” is a play on money, and the accumulation of such. If you listen closely, you can catch the wordplay of numerical metaphors and school references. The “Math” music video paints a fitting picture, as we see Dandrell, Rio, and Sasha double as teachers and students. The video showcases some unique scenes: Scott hands out hundreds to his pupils, Rio oversees the class as a substitute teacher, and Sasha Go Hard is reprimanded for ditching class. The visuals are energetic and playful, yet hard and cutting.
