DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW:

Developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, and Phil Klemmer, who are also executive producers along with Sarah Schechter and Chris Fedak, and based on the characters of DC Comics, “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” is an American superhero television series, fourth in the Arrowverse and a spin-off featuring characters introduced in Arrow and The Flash along with new characters in the same fictional universe that first broadcast on January 21, 2016.

PREMISE:

Time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter has to recruit a rag-tag team of heroes and villains to help prevent an apocalypse that could impact not only Earth but all of time.

“In 2166, an immortal tyrant named Vandal Savage conquered the world and murdered my wife and child. I have assembled an elite team to hunt him throughout time and stop his rise to power. Unfortunately, my plan is opposed by the body I’d sworn my allegiance to: the Time Masters. In the future, my friends may not be heroes. But if we succeed, they will be remembered as legends.”

SYNOPSIS:

“Having spent last season trying to track down the Loom of Fate in order to bring back their slain comrades, the Legends must now save history from a foe like none they’ve encountered in the past or future. Co-captains of the time-ship Waverider Sara Lance and Ava Sharpe have dealt with monsters, time anomalies, and most recently, villains from Hell, but this season they will face something even more challenging and bizarre … space aliens!”

“After one of their own is abducted by a ruthless alien, this new mission becomes personal. It will take more than the combined powers of a dark magician, John Constantine; a semi-reformed arsonist, Mick Rory; historian who transforms into steel, Nate Heywood; and a brother-sister wind-totem-wielding duo, Zara Tarazi and Behrad Tarazi to save the world for the sixth time. They must recruit a new Legend, a woman who was abducted by aliens when she was a child and supposedly imbued with powers that will help the team defeat their intergalactic foes. Either that or she’s just crazy…”

EXTRAS:

“We do have a big bad who has had his sights on Sara for a long time,” co-showrunner Phil Klemmer tells EW. That big bad is Raffi Barsoumian’s (The Vampire Diaries) Bishop, a mad genius with a god complex.

“Sara is not being targeted as a victim, but to be turned into a partner,” says Klemmer. “Our big bad, at least, purports to have altruistic reasons for saving humanity. He thinks Sara is instrumental for that. Of course, his ideas are completely unhinged, but he’s got a fascination with her. It’s not a romantic fascination. Even if Sara is able to escape his clutches, this isn’t the sort of guy that’s going to give up on his plan. Even though she might escape her kidnapping, she’s going to be dealing with the aftermath for the whole season.”
