Gameplay

Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is a sequel to the Deadly Premonition taking place in Boston today. Venture back in time to Le Carré through creative storytelling and unravel the secrets hidden inside the once peaceful city.

Agents Davis and Jones are monitoring the start of a new investigation into the Le Carré serial killings, acting as both a sequel and a prequel to the first Deadly Premonition. Head back to Le Carré in time to move into the role of Special Agent York and continue unraveling the mystery from the memories of a retired FBI agent.

Problems

The bulk of the plot may have taken place in 2005, but the graphics of Deadly Premonition 2 seem to have been filmed a few years before that. Although a subtle cell-shading technique is used to help character models pop. The reflections look like they are made on the Nokia N-Gage. While most of the environmental textures have all the definitions of a coffee stain on a tablecloth.

Nevertheless, it is the jittery frame rate that is the true serial killer in Deadly Premonition 2. It regularly snuffs out every fun to be had to enjoy its setting inspired by New Orleans. Things are fairly tolerable inside some of its interiors. But the minute you walk out the hero looks like the sloppiest attempt at stop-motion animation in the world.

Director Hidetaka ‘Swery’ Suehiro set his Twin Peaks to box in anticipation of the True Detective’s binge-watching season. As the plot structure of Deadly Premonition 2 is strongly reminiscent of that of the HBO series.
