Arkane Studios announced Deathloop, a one-on-one shooter sniper title for PlayStation 5 at Sony’s PS5 unveiling event. The game is being designed in France by Arkane Lyon. It’s the initial intellectual property of the ZeniMax game studio.
“DEATHLOOP” sends players to the lawless island of Blackreef in an everlasting battle between two exceptional assassins, ” reads the official summary of the game.
Arkane Studios, the team behind the genius Dishonored franchise and the fairly decent Prey, have announced a mysterious title named Deathloop is their next game.
Arkane had been pretty quiet about it after revealing Deathloop at E3 last year. We got to see action from it during PlayStation’s PS5 case today, and it seems like a hell of a lot like Dishonored.
In the trailer, Colt battles to flee the titular “deathloop.” With all kinds of weapons, he kills a lot of non-player characters, including those that look like they came from Arkane’s Dishonored games. But he still has to fight with Julianna, a rival murderer whose job is to kill the murderer and keep the process of the death loop running. Colt has to kill eight different targets, but Julianna can stop him or, kill the targets herself.
It isn’t surprising that Deathloop would offer a good deal of flexibility in terms of how you approach each target. What’s less clear is how the plot of the game will make that idea a factor.
Arkane managed to bring Deathloop’s gameplay teaser to PS5 in June 2020. It gives one a better idea as to how the fight works as well as how the time loop is going to screw with players throughout the experience.
The trailer hasn’t revealed a release date, but a post on the blog of PlayStation says this holiday it’s coming out. What the trailer does show is that, as was expected, it is coming into next-gen systems. Deathloop will be an exclusive on the PS5 console.
