The show is set in the 1990s in the small town of Derry, Nothern Ireland. It revolves around the lives of three best friends who are living in war-torn Ireland. The show depicts their lives and how they enjoy every moment without caring about the political situation of their country.

Derry Girls comically portrays the lives of these girls and sketches out their lives to be of the utmost importance. It shows their troubles and how they navigate through adolescence in a war-torn country. Also, the character of Dylan Llewellyn as James Maguire, an English teenager roaming amongst the Irish girls had the fans cracking with chortles.

The show which was supposed to release its season 3 in 2020, has put the release on hold due to the COVID situation.
