Created by David Guggenheim, Designated Survivor is an American political thriller drama TV Series that aired on ABC for two seasons. Season three aired exclusively and globally on Netflix. Kiefer Sutherland stars as Thomas Kirkman, a lower-level cabinet member, never imagined something would happen that would catapult him from Secretary of HUD to President of the United States. The transitional leap happens after an explosion killing everyone ahead of him in the presidential line of succession changes everything. Kirkman underestimated by many deals with his inexperience as head of state while looking to uncover the truth behind the attack. Kirkman struggles to keep the country from dissolving into chaos and must adjust to his new normal, unaware of what fresh horrors may await the United States. Designated Survivor has garnered many accolades and appreciation from the critics as well as from the fans.
What do we have for Designated Survivor Season 4
The first episode premiered on September 21, 2016, which had an outreach of over 10 million viewers. The series was renewed for a second season on May 11, 2017, which premiered on September 27, 2017. In May 2018, ABC canceled the series after two seasons. In September 2018, Netflix announced the pickup of up Designated Survivor Season 3 of 10 episodes which will be produced by Entertainment One. The third season premiered on Netflix on June 7, 2019.
In July 2019, the show was finally discontinued by Netflix. Now, the fact in hand is that there are too many twists and mystery that needs to be unfurled with another season. Although, this is not the first time the show has been canceled and fans are hoping for it not to be the last.
Not to forget the bottleneck of production caused due to current global pandemic might also act against the announcement of any development regarding season 4. Despite the fact that the majority of the critics found season 3 to be ending satisfactorily, let’s hope for any production to pick up the show for the 4th Season providing answers to all the questions arisen in the last season.
