‘Diary of a Future President’ Season 2: Release Date, Plot and Updates!

Disney+ brought yet another exhilarating comic series, Diary of a Future President,  created by Ilana Peña which premiered on January 17, 2020, and Gina Rodriguez serving as an executive producer through her company I Can & I Will Productions and an association with CBS Television Series. The 10 episodes long series narrates the journal excerpts of the 12 years old Cuban-American protagonist Elena through voice-overs, who aspires to become the future president of the United States. Good tidings, the series got a renewal in May and we are not surprised since the show is yet to offer us more charming anecdotes.

The series starts with Elena, holding the campaigns for her Presidency, who recounts her growing years and what made her be where she is. The story is just like any other teen series with a touch of euphoria and raw infantilism, where she tries to impress her school crush, silly escapades with her “loyal” best friend, discovering puberty and adjustment to new changes. The show tries to manifest the epistolary side of anyone’s life, how diaries treasure the memories which you never want to let you; how it preserves time for lifelong and will make one proud and happy, making them realize how far they have come. Elena lives with her older brother, Bobby; and mother, Gabi, who develops a new relationship with Sam, a lawyer from her firm.

Initially, the show was titled Diary of a Female President and was in words with Disney since January 2019. Besides Ilana Pena and Gina Rodriguez, Emily Gipson served as the executive producer and Robin Shorr as the show-runner. CBS chief creative officer David Nevins stated that the series was considered to air on The CW, but that it was more ultimately more suitable for the target audience of Disney+ and the program was the first scripted series produced by an external studio to be ordered by Disney+. Like Never Have I Ever, the show is created to represent the underrepresented proportion of the population, the Latinos, and Pena in place of Mindy Kaling. Though there hasn’t been any confirmed release date of the second season and it is anticipated that it might get delayed due to the grave situation of the world.

Diary of a Future President stars Tess Romero as Elena (junior), Gina Rodriguez as Elena (senior), Selenis Leyva as Gabriela,  Charlie Bushnell as Roberto, Carmina Garay as Sasha, Michael Weaver as Sam and many more.
