Recently, Amazon Prime Video disapproved of the pilot of The Dark Tower TV show which would have some exciting story arc of three seasons following the life of The Gunslinger from youth to adulthood. Amazon took the decision to cancel the show after the filming of the pilot.
The show is adapted from Stephen King’s fantasy book series, short story and comic book series of the same title. Before adapting the books into a series, it was adapted into a movie starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, produced by Ron Howard and directed by Nikolaj Arcel which was released in the year 2017 and was highly criticized by the audiences for not doing justice to King’s epic narrative into a dull movie.
Ever since King’s fans got to know that The Dark Tower will be adapted into a TV show, their expectations are high from Amazon’s version of The Dark Tower by the showrunner, Glen Mazzara. Hoping that he would justice to the books and King’s narrative. But unfortunately, Amazon Prime decided not to move forward with the adaptation as they thought the show’s plot was not fascinating and strong as other shows of Amazon Prime which are now under production, like The Lord of Rings, and The Wheel of Time, which will release either in the summer of 2021 or fall of 2021.
It is disappointing news to King’s fans, but there is good news for them as well, Glen Mazzara revealed on The Kingcast, a podcast of Stephen King’s fans, his plans for the series, and let’s hope it comes out on any of our favorite digital platforms soon. Till then, if you’re Stephen King’s fans go listen to the podcast and read as many of his novels as you can in time like this!
