Did the halt in The Batman’s filming turn out to be a good thing for Robert Pattinson?

The years 2019 and 2020 before COVID-19 had been an unusually busy period into high-profile projects for star actor Robert Pattinson. Immediately after completing Christopher Nolan’s time-warped spy-action thriller Tenet, he was into DC’s bat-suit to reboot the classic DC superhero, after Ben Affleck was slammed for being the new Batman alongside Henry Cavill’s Superman in Batman V Superman and Justice League. This will be the third reboot of Batman by DC in less than two decades after Christian Bale and Ben Affleck played Bruce Wayne a.k.a Batman in a total of 5 films combined.

Pattinson-started Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, was in the midst of production with 25 percent filming already done when it was halted owing to the strict lockdown measures due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Subsequently, the release of the film also been pushed back by almost four months from 25th June to directly 1st October 2021.

Being a part of a major motion picture project might be full of stardom and glamour, but it is not at all an easy job to pull off. It rigorously demands hard work and flawless perfection. On top of that, being a lead actor in Nolan’s film means having to face unprecedented challenges and surprises. On one side he had just completed Tenet and on the other side, he was immediately burdened with living up to fans’ expectations for a new Batman after they have been heavily disappointed with Ben Affleck. This had become quite tiresome for Pattinson. This is why he is enjoying the break he got due to COVID-19 lockdown from playing Bruce Wayne.

“We’d really gotten into a really good rhythm as well, so it’s kind of strange to be pausing. But, again, it’s a hard movie. I mean, obviously it’s Batman, so it’s kind of nice. I basically went straight from Chris [Nolan’s] movie into that. And, yeah, I was feeling a little bit loopy anyway. So having some time off is not the worst thing in the world. But hopefully, it’ll be sooner rather than later that everything is hopefully in a better place,” told Pattinson Total Film during an interview.

Pattinson and the entire cast and crew of The Batman will not have to wait any longer before resuming production, as Warner Bros. studios have received the permission recommence The Batman and the third installment of Fantastic Beasts.
