Written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón, Disclaimer is an upcoming American thriller television series. It is based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Renée Knight. The series follows a famed television journalist who discovers she is a prominent character in a novel that reveals a secret she has tried to keep hidden. Cuarón is also the executive producer alongside Cate Blanchett, Steve Golin, David Levine, Dawn Olmstead, and Gabriela Rodríguez.

Disclaimer Plot and Cast

“Disclaimer” is based on a novel of the same name by Renée Knight and according to the press release for the series by Apple TV+, it’s a story of shocking revelations and long-buried secrets. The action centers on Blanchett’s journalist Catherine Ravenscroft, who is horrified when she reads a novel that includes dark details from her life she never thought anyone would ever know about. This discovery sends her spinning as things long-hidden begin to bubble to the surface.

At first glance, this synopsis appears to play to Alfonso Cuarón’s strengths as a filmmaker. Even with his bigger films such as “Gravity” and “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” he has arguably always excelled at his ability to tell very human stories set against sprawling backdrops. “Disclaimer” has the potential to tell a similarly large-scale story due to Catherine Ravenscroft’s longstanding battle against major institutions, but Cuarón can keep the story squarely on her.

Talking about the cast, includes Cate Blanchett as Catherine Ravenscroft, Kevin Kline as Stephen Brigstocke, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kodi Smit-McPhee, HoYeon Jung as Kim, Louis Partridge as Jonathan Brigstocke, and Lesley Manville as Nancy.

Disclaimer Release Date

At this time, “Disclaimer” does not currently have a set premiere date for its launch on Apple TV+. As the project has only just been announced, it is reasonable to assume that there is a fair amount of work that still needs to be done before the cameras start rolling.

It was announced in December 2021 that Apple TV+ had ordered the series. Filming for the series had begun by June 2022 in Archway, London.
