The American television soap opera Dynasty has renewed its fourth season and fans are excited than ever. The sad part is that the show won’t be available for online streaming until 2021 due to the delay caused by the pandemic. Based on the 1980s series Dynasty, and developed by Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Sallie Patrick, the daily soap babble about “two of America’s wealthiest families as they feud for control over their fortune and their children.” Interestingly, Dynasty isn’t a full Netflix Original. Instead, it falls into the internationally distributed Netflix Original category. The show kicked off back in October 2017, with the initial season consisting of 22 episodes. And with sheer luck, bagged a renewal every year.
A show talking about the real complexity of an affluent family is what we need in today’s popular pop media. Fallon Carrington, the daughter of the billionaire, Blake Carrington; Mr. Carrington gets engaged to a rival employee Cristal, who in turn is blackmailed by her nephew Sammy. On the other hand, to seek vengeance, Fallon allies with Blake’s nemesis, Jeff Colby. The Carringtons form a united front in the wake of the suspicious death of Cristal’s former lover, but things at the mansion do not remain harmonious for long. The reboot updates several elements from the 1980s original, including moving the setting from Denver, Colorado to Atlanta, Georgia; making Steven’s homosexuality a non-issue to Blake, and changing gold digger Sammy Jo from a woman to a gay man.
Due to the legal contract with The CW, we can expect Dynasty to be available only in late 2021. There hasn’t been any official release date and might be delaying it. Also, there hasn’t been any information regarding the frequency of the episode release.
Dynasty stars Elizabeth Gillies as Fallon Carrington, Nathalie Kelley as Cristal Flores Carrington, James Mackay as Steven Carrington, Robert Christopher Riley as Michael Culhane, Sam Adegoke as Jeff Colby, Rafael de la Fuente as Sam, Alan Dale as Joseph Anders, and more.
