EA Sports was expected to release Madden 21 on June 1. However owing to national protests opposing the Minneapolis Police murder of George Floyd, the organization agreed to delay the streaming event.
Sony has confirmed that no PS5 event will be revealed this week. There is no sign of when it might be rescheduled. It had started to seem unavoidable, but Sony has now reported that there would be no PlayStation 5 unveiling case on Thursday, as originally expected.
EA and Sony’s Event delayed
Only days after the organization revealed plans to launch games heading to PlayStation 5 in a special interactive showcase. Sony opted to delay the celebration until a later date in favor of protests against police violence in several cities around the US. The killing triggered protests in Minneapolis that spread to other areas over the weekend. Several of these protests, such as those in Minneapolis, New York City, Los Angeles, turned aggressive when police forces started using tear gas, and rubber bullets toward the protesters.
The reaction to EA’s comment was mixed. While some applauded the publisher for bringing attention to the plight of the African American community. Others took the chance to take a shot at the business. Some claim that it’s all a cover-up and that EA isn’t able to show off the games, whilst others have created the usual “it’s same game as last 10 years” comment.
