Empire of Sin is a forthcoming strategy game created by Romero Games and published by Paradox Interactive. The player plays the role of one of the gang leaders in the game, influenced by real-life personalities during the Prohibition era in Chicago.
The player uses their boss to monitor their underlings’ actions and take over the company of rivals and hire new people into their cause while maintaining their dominance over the other bosses.
Release Date
Empire of Sin was first announced as part of the Nintendo Direct demonstration at E3 2019. It is expected to be released on Windows, macOS, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch. While its initial release was set for the second quarter of 2020, Romero Games stated that the game would be delayed until the end of 2020.
Gameplay
This is a game of a crime lord in the Prohibition era, starting in 1920 and trying to gain control of Chicago by 1933. As a boss, they will hire up to 16 underlings out of 60 possible ones to run their networks of suspicious enterprises, such as parlors, casinos, and brothel, to shield them from law and rival mafia groups, while seeking to broaden their power by taking over others. The game uses alcohol as a form of currency to boost the influence of the kingdom.

Alcohol can be created by breweries under the control of the player, provided to the player by friends, or awarded as part of the completion of the different missions. The nature of alcohol will affect its influence; low-quality alcohol can be manufactured cheaply and immediately sold at a high profit, but it can lose its appeal over time.
Controlling more territories allows the gang leader more money to further equip their underlings or to hire recruits. The game is partly rogue in nature as the companies on the game map reallocate per replay, and new characters are created with different rewards per time. Some also likened the Empire of Sin as a sequel to the 1999 Mob Rule series.
