The year 2021 has seen a plethora of amazing movies come out with ‘Encounter’ definitely being one of them. The drama film, directed by Michael Pearce, premiered at the 48th Telluride Film Festival on
September 3rd, 2021 garnering acclaim for the actors’ heartfelt performance. It had a short
limited release on December 3rd and then officially started streaming on Amazon Prime from
December 10th onwards. With a runtime of 108 minutes, this movie can be perfect to watch
during Christmas Holidays; whether it be with friends or family. Read on to find out all we know about the show so far, including the release date!
Encounter: Plot and Cast
The film’s central plot is based around the importance of family and how people go above and beyond to keep their loved ones safe. The official synopsis from Amazon reads:
‘A decorated Marine goes on a rescue mission to save his two young sons from an unhuman threat. As their journey takes them in increasingly dangerous directions, the boys will need to leave their childhoods behind.’
Even from the synopsis alone it is easy to deduce that the movie will be jam-packed with action, thrills as well as showcasing the bond of family and the length one can go to protect its own kin. The movie has a star-studded cast with Riz Ahmed (Venom) portraying the lead role of Malik Khan, as well as Octavia Spencer (Ma), Janina Gavankar (Big Sky) and Rory Cochrane (CSI:Miami) representing supporting roles. With this talented cast and amazing plotline, it is safe to assume that this movie will be a surefire hit during the award season.
