Everything you need to know about the Final Season of 13 Reasons Why!

13 Reasons Why is an American teen drama series developed for Netflix by Brian Yorkey, based on the 2007 novel ‘Thirteen Reasons Why’ by Jay Asher. The series is produced by July Moon Productions, Kicked to the Curb Productions, and Paramount Television with the showrunners Yorkey and Diana Son. The series followed the story of a high school student, Clay Jensen, and his deceased friend Hannah Baker, who takes her own life after bullying, sexual abuse, being the topic of gossip at her high school, and lack of support from family and friends. She records thirteen tapes preceding her suicide in which she records why she’s ending her life.

The debut season of the series was positively received by critics and fans all over the world. It raises many questions and asked the teenagers to come out and seek help if they’re going through any difficult situations in their life or at school. The show gives a moral of opening up, talk to people, mental health is important, sexual assault is intolerable and parents should always support their kids. The graphic representation in the series was a major concern for the mental health professionals so, Netflix added a warning at the start of each season for the viewers about the themes.

The first season of the series was released on Netflix on 31 March 2017. Dylan Minnette who played Clay Jensen and Katharine Langford who played the role of Hannah Baker received positive reviews from everyone for their brilliant performance. The second season was released on 18 May 2018 which received mixed reviews from critics and audiences, and the third season was released on 23 August 2019.

With three seasons on Netflix, it’s almost time for 13 Reasons Why to say goodbye with its fourth and final season which is dropping on 5 June 2020. Instead of following the pattern of having 13 episodes in every season of the controversial teen drama 13 Reasons Why the final season will have 10 episodes. The creator Brian Yorkey said, ‘I think 10 episodes is a nice length for a season. We have given the audience 39 Reasons Why, so, I feel like we can say, yes the show is still 13RW, this season it’s just 10 episodes. You’ll agree with the number of episodes when we get to the end’ After the first season of the show which was based on the novel by Jay Asher, Brian got attached to the characters, and he mapped out four-season arcs. The high school students will graduate in the final season, and it’s a perfect time to bid goodbye to the show, and leave it to the imagination of the people about their college lives, said Brian Yorkey when asked about why he only chose four seasons for the series.

The first season of the series followed the story of Hannah Baker, and her decision to end her life through a series of tape, then the second season saw the aftermath in the high school following her loss, and dealt with shooting at the school party and the third season was quite complicated with the murder of jock and sexual predator Bryce Walker, with Monty framed for his murder and was killed in jail. It will be interesting to see what the final season will unfold. On Monday, Netflix released the emotional goodbye trailer of the cast at the final reading, session of the final season of 13 Reasons Why. Check out the trailer for yourself!

The star cast of the final season is, Dylan Minnette, Christian Navarro, Alisha Boe, Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, Miles Heizer, Ross Butler, Devin Druid, Amy Hargreaves, Kate Walsh, Briann James in the major roles.
