Written by Alice Bell and Melanie Marnich, Expats is an American drama television series. It is based on the 2016 novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee and it is set to premiere on Amazon Video.
Bell and Lee are set to serve as a consulting producer alongside Blossom Films, production companies involved with the production were slated to include POW! Productions. On July 28, 2018, it was announced that Amazon had given the production a series order.

Expats Plot and Cast
According to the original novel’s synopsis, the story follows:
“Mercy, a young Korean American and recent Columbia graduate, is adrift, undone by a terrible incident in her recent past. Hilary, a wealthy housewife, is haunted by her struggle to have a child, something she believes could save her foundering marriage.
Meanwhile, Margaret, once a happily married mother of three, questions her maternal identity in the wake of a shattering loss. As each woman struggles with her own demons, their lives collide in ways that have irreversible consequences for them all.”
There’s no official synopsis for the series as yet, the only small details we have are that Expats is the story of an international community whose lives are bound together forever after a sudden family tragedy.
It revolves around three women, Mercy, Margaret, and Hilary. It will be interesting to see how closely the upcoming series follows the story of Lee’s novel. Stay tuned for more details on this to come.
Now talking about the cast, it includes Nicole Kidman as Margaret, Ji-young Yoo as Mercy, Jack Huston as David Starr, Sarayu Blue as Hilary Starr, and Brian Tee as Clarke.
Expats Release Date
The makers of the brand new series have not been confirmed any released date yet. For now, we can expect it in late 2022 or 2023.
The number of episodes for the upcoming show are also not confirmed. Further information regarding the same are yet to be announced by the makers.
